If you are a direct debit member, and have filled out a mandate, payments will be taken automatically.
If you pay via invoice, you can pay by BACS transfer, or via paypal. Details for the BACS transfer can be found at the bottom of your invoice. Paypal payment (which doesn’t require a paypal account) can be done via our member area.
It will say on your invoice which can be found in your account. We recommend paying by direct debit, and you can change your method of payment at anytime by contacting

Yes. As well as tiered membership rates, we offer low income concessionary rates to Ordinary Membership fees. Additionally, members can take up to a 1 year membership pause (eg for
maternity or sabbatical leave) whilst retaining some benefits. Please contact the office for more information.
If your career position has changed, eg becoming a consultant, you can upgrade your membership to an ABN Ordinary Member as soon as this happens by contacting the office, or wait until
your next renewal point and let us know then. (You won't be able to access the full Ordinary Member benefits until you have switched membership type)
Our memberships are designed to complement your professional journey. As your career progresses, you will become eligible for new membership categories and in doing so receive increased benefits.
For example, Associate members should switch to become an Ordinary Member when they become a consultant. Students can change to Junior Members when they finish medical school.
You can also switch your payment method (eg from credit card and direct debit) by selecting the other option during the renewal process.
If you wish to make a change that is not available as an option, please contact us.
If you are applying to become an Overseas Member of the ABN & you are not registered with the UK General Medical Council, you will need a reference from a current Ordinary Member of the ABN. This person will
be asked to vouch for your professional status as a consultant neurologist, and your link to UK Neurology.
Yes. Once you have paid for your membership on joining, or at renewal, you will receive confirmation of your membership status. From then, you can login to the website and view your payments history.
Here you can download current and past invoices which confirm payment, method and date of payment.
The ABN is a membership organisation whose success reslies on the involvement of the membership. The feedback from members who have taken on a role is extremely positive. There are many opportunities to participate as a member, for example
joining a Special Interest Group, Advisory Group or Committee; coming along to one of our annual events; responding to calls for involvement in the newsletter. We would love to hear from you. The best place to start is the "Get Involved"
page which highlights current opportunities, but you can also use the ABN contact form
